Libs why don't you protest the tens of millions Hollywood and sports stars are earning? ?

They employ far far less people than a CEO and many make much more money. They are some of the most selfish people on the planet and are getting paid so much for playing with a ball or pretending to be someone else... If you want us to believe your against the rich, and not just capitalism and republicans ( wich we all believe you really are) then I want to see some signs at an occupy movement saying down with pro sports players and entertainers salaries.Libs why don't you protest the tens of millions Hollywood and sports stars are earning? ?
Because I am a liberal hypocrite who whines about AM Radio, the Koch Bros, and Reagan while I bow in worship to MSNBC, Soros and pull my pants down while bending over for Obama.Libs why don't you protest the tens of millions Hollywood and sports stars are earning? ?
At least they pay social security and medicare taxes and 35% on their wage income. Entertainers didn't wreck our economy and then beg for taxpayer bailouts. A poor person does not have to buy cable or sports tickets, but it is hard for anyone to get around dealing with banks.

CEOs and hedge fund traders get millions in stock options each year and pay only 15% tax on their profits. Raise the top marginal tax rate, make those in the top income tax bracket who pay 15%, subject to the 25% alternative minimum tax, and remove the $8000 cap on social security tax for high wage earners and they'll all pay their fair share. Prohibit lobbyist "contributions" to candidates' campaigns and make all contributions go through a blind trust, managed by the FEC to eliminate corruption and influence peddling.
actors %26amp; professional sports players don't have their own lobbyists playing a large role in the legislation processes that happen in Washington!!! no normal human being is against capitalism, moron. it's not about other people making money, its about our capitalist system having a heavy influence on our democracy, creating a playing field that minimizes growth of small businesses %26amp; ingenuity.

now, have i convinced you? no?!!! because you don't have an objective approach, and you'll continue to pander to people who you THINK sound smarter than you just because you look at the size of their wallets. way to be part of the problem.Libs why don't you protest the tens of millions Hollywood and sports stars are earning? ?
Hollywood exploits their "little people," into believing they actually care.

Check out Forbes, actors get more annually than any CEO ever will.

Edit: As per annual salaries, the highest paid CEO, on Forbes, is $84M per year. One actor, for example Will Smith, makes $100M per year. No CEOs make "billions" although if they invest and use their money wisely, I'm sure they can become that way. Just as those in Hollywood do.

The government controls Wall Street, any idiot can figure that out. Why is Wall Street in a mess? The GOVERNMENT. Who makes the laws regulations? Who makes the loopholes? Who is bribed? Who looks the other way?

Those we elect. Wake up.
Could it be because Lady GaGa, or LeBron James or Brad Pitt didn't collapse the economy - the Wall Streeters did. The Hollywood types don't pay lobbyists tens of millions of dollars to try to prevent lawmakers making rules to prevent another collapse - which WILL happen if business continues to be done the same way as it's been done for the last 2 or 3 decades.

You're comparing apples and oranges.Libs why don't you protest the tens of millions Hollywood and sports stars are earning? ?
I rarely feel cheated after a movie I want to see and movies are one of the few exports that the United States has to offer these days. As far as sports stars go, have you ever played sports? Do you realize how difficult it is to become one of the few that are actually good enough to play professional sports? You're not born with the big contract - it's a lifetime of dedication and hard work.

Haven't had to bail out the entertainment industry now have we?!
I already do protest by never going to a movie, concert or watching TV. I have never been to a ball game other than the ones my children participate in. The difference is that much of the money the CEOs make, is made by the sales of goods and merchandise that are really needed to survive. I buy very little of that stuff and prefer to be self sufficient. My car is 20 years old and still running really well. Advertising does not make me wish to outdo the Jones people next door.
Occupy Hollywood . . . I love it . . . and while we're at it let's insist that they produce something more than drivel, something more original and challenging on the cultural front, some post Godardian neo-Surrealist avant-garde brain twister.
Musicians get about $0.07 for every $1.00 of music that's sold. Basketball players are negotiating for the same contract that McDonalds employees have, total wages equal to total profits.

Plus, they're paid salary, which means they pay a 35% tax rate. If they were paid in stock and paid 17%, I'd protest them too.

I really don't see a problem here.
lol... millions vs. billions...

the people who actually cause the problems instead of just some basketball players?

if you don't understand what we're talking about, you shouldn't try and ask questions about it

when was the last time a basketball player pulled a Maddoff or ENRON? and that is the issue...wealthy people leveraging billions of dollars that end up hurting many people and the economy overall...

EDIT: hmm, I checked forbes... didn't see ONE actor? but most of these are CEOs?

that's just weird? could you give the me cite where all the actors are making more than this

It is the Republicans in Congress who are fighting for those in Hollywood and sports stars to be able to keep their low tax rates, not 'libs'.
You are forgetting the one battery powered sports car built with our money in Finland that Leonardo bought. Without his purchase you would not be able to declare our taxpayer support of green energy a success.
I'm not protesting anybody. All these people worked hard to rise to the top. They weren't born and handed a check for $1,000,000.
Down with Hollywood Rich Elite and Mega Wealthy Sports Stars!!!

Happy bro?
why don't you since you are the one upset about it.
Nobody is protesting what anybody is making. Get your facts right.

What people are protesting is the injustice that the 2% that own 95% of the wealth of this nation only pay 75% of the taxes.

Can you see how it is wrong for the 98% of the nation that owns only 5% of the wealth to pay 25% of the expense?

[edit to add today's news]
"A comprehensive study released on Thursday found that 280 of the biggest publicly traded American companies faced federal income tax bills equal to 18.5 percent of their profits during the last three years 鈥?little more than half the official corporate rate of 35 percent and lower than their competitors in many industrialized countries.

Using information from the companies鈥?own corporate filings, however, the study concluded that a quarter of the 280 corporations owed less than 10 percent of profits in federal income taxes and 30 companies had no federal tax liability for the entire three-year period."

"companies had no federal tax liability for the entire three-year period" and THAT is the injustice we are talking about.
