The MGM Grand or Planet Hollywood?

Trying to decide between the two. Wondering if Planet hollywood is totally converted from the Aladdin. If anything is better feel free to let me know. This is for a family trip two adults and two teens. Anything specifically good for the two teens would be greatly appreciated. The MGM Grand or Planet Hollywood?
In general, MGM Grand is a better hotel than Planet Hollywood (and it has a far larger pool). MGM is also better for teens. Luxor and New York, New York are next door. They both cater to older children - with a wide variety of IMAX films, motion simulators, arcades, and a very real roller coaster (in the same way Circus Crcus and Excalibur might appeal to younger children).

Having said that, there might be other reasons to stay at PH...

For one thing, you might get a better deal on the room, and the comps at PH are pretty generous.

Although MGM has a huge and famous casino, I've also found that the slots at PH's mediocre casino tend to payout a little better (at least, this was true when it was still struggling as the Aladdin). This is true of much of Vegas though. The more extravagant and beautiful the casino, the greater the odds are stacked against you. After all, the money for those gaudy statues gotta come from somewhere.

MGM has great high-end restaurants. I've been to Nob Hill and Shibuya - both were excellent, but they were very pricey ($100.00 plus a person). PH has more affordable dining options. These include two good buffets: Todai's Japanese Buffet and the Spice Market.

Walking distances to shows should be a consideration. If you're going to see O at the Bellagio (or Celine Dion and Elton John at Caesars Palace), PH makes a good home base.

But, of course... if you're going to Mamma Mia, Zumanity, or KA, you want to stay at MGM instead. Overall, I think MGM is superior to PH. However, as I stated, there might be other reasons to choose PH.The MGM Grand or Planet Hollywood?
mgm. its very cool there. but the best hotel on the strip is caesers palace! it has amazing service and the best rooms. try caesars!
mgm is far better place to stay. visit the mall at PH, but stay at MGM.The MGM Grand or Planet Hollywood?
The MGM Grand is great an it is huge, the rooms are very nice and there are many things available inside the resort.
I love the MGM Grand. They have a nice pool area, but I hear the best pool is at Mandalay Bay. Just a short ways by the free tram from MGM.The MGM Grand or Planet Hollywood?
I've never stayed at Planet Hollywood/Aladdin. But I have stayed at the MGM Grand and absolutely loved it. The rooms were wonderful and very comfortable. The casino is very spacious with lots to see and do. There is a monorail stop to get you up and down the strip easily (however with four people it might be cheaper to take a cab). The pool area is wonderful.

MGM is near the Luxor which has an IMAX theater and an arcade that your teens might enjoy. It is also near the M%26amp;M store, the coke store and another arcade.
Stay at the MGM visit PH.
MGM is way better. Nothing will really help the teens, as LV is not a great place for teenagers.
I would stay at the MGM Grand. It definitely has the better pool - they have a larger area and a lazy river! Plus, all-around, it would be my preferred hotel to stay at. There are enough interesting casinos within walking distance to keep things interesting too.
The MGm may be better pool wise and they may be able to keep the teens a little bit more busy.
MGM Grand hands down! Try to get a west wing room if you can, they've been recently remodeled. If you got some serious money you can stay in a Skyloft!

But if you have kids the MGM will provide plenty of entertainment, it has a huge pool and an arcade and next door to it you'll find Gamerworks (a super arcade) and a movie theater as well as a bunch of other kid oriented stores!

Planet Hollywood used to be the Aladdin, it sucked then, and it sucks now. All they did was remodel the entrance, but it still has the crappy Aladdin rooms and tiny pool.
If I had my choice I'd rather stay at the MGM Grand.
