Planet Hollywood or Mandalay Bay?

What are you looking for? Mandalay is more relaxing and has a beautiful pool area! It is more upscale.

Planet Hollywood is closer to the rest of the mid strip hotels and more of a party atmosphere.

Planet Hollywood is on the center of the strip, it's kind of a party hotel for people in the 20's.



Mandalay Bay has the best pool of all the hotels on the strip, the hotel itself offers better amenities than Planet Hollywood, it's alot quieter since it's on the south end of the strip.



So it all depends on what your looking for, but for me I love Mandalay Bay, it's just a better hotel overall compared to Planet Hollywood.
Depends on what you are looking for in a hotel. Mandalay Bay is like being away on a tropical island. You will feel that way especially with the pool area. If you want a relaxing yet exciting get a way then this is the place. Now if you want to party and be in the center of things on the strip then this is the place for you. You have to decide which one you want. You can't go wrong with either of them.Planet Hollywood or Mandalay Bay?
I stayed at Planet Hollywood when it was the Aladdin in 2003, and at Mandalay Bay five months ago. Both hotels offer slightly larger than average rooms but if you're not booking a suite or other upgraded room, Mandalay Bay's standard rooms are waaayyyy nicer.

They did a fantastic job remodeling the casino, it's almost like a science fiction movie set. Which appeals to me, maybe not everyone.



It's a tough choice, both properties are nice; I think MB is a bit nicer overall while PH has a bit better location. MB is more of an adult, elegant place while PH has adapted kind of a frenetic party atmosphere. To relax I'd go to MB, to party I'd go to PH.
Planet Hollywood is in the best location on the strip, in my opinion. It's completely central and has a great atmosphere. Some of the rooms are adjacent to the eiffel tower at Paris and some have views of the fountains at the Bellagio. I also love the movie memorabilia in the rooms. Miracle Mile is my favorite shopping on the strip as well. They also have movie premieres there periodically which is fun to catch.



Mandalay Bay as the last hotel at one end of the strip. I don't spend a whole lot of time down there so I personally would never stay there. Mandalay Bay is nice though and I've even had some celebrity sightings there.



When are you going? If you are going when it's warm there, I think Mandalay Bay has an edge over Planet Hollywood as far as their pool goes. They have a man-made beach and the pool is huge. They might have a lazy river too, I can't remember. The Planet Hollywood pool is just mediocre.



Also, I think Mandalay Bay may be newer. Planet Hollywood used to be Aladdin and some parts of the hotel, like some of the bathrooms in the rooms, still have Aladdin decor which is kind of weird.

They are both good hotels, but have different features. I think of Planet Hollywood as a party hotel, while I think of Mandalay Bay as a place to take your time and relax.



Mandalay Bay has the best pool area in Vegas with real sand, a lazy river, and a jogging track. The rooms are beautiful and it is located on South Strip, which will give you a little less people traffic but is still an easy walk to center strip (about 20 minute walk).



Planet Hollywood has a great buffet, and is right on center strip. You can see the Bellagio fountains from some of their rooms, also.



Both are very modern, Mandalay Bay might be a little more upscale, but you can find great rates here http://smartervegas.com/ for either one. Mandalay Bay currently starts at $70/night!
You cannot go wrong with any of these hotels because both hotels are great, Planet Hollywood has a very good location but personally I prefer Mandalay Bay because of their great pool areas. Planet Hollywood is closer to more of the other casinos. Both has a shopping mall, though I think Planet Hollywood has far better shops. Planet Hollywood has many different restaurants. If you are into tattoos there is one of the best shops in town in the Miracle Mile shops.
Planet Hollywood is pretty much in the center of the Strip so it's right where the action is. Plus they just finished updating the hotel last year so it's still shiny.
Easy choice...Planet Hollywood.



Mandalay Bay is beautiful, but the only way I'd stay there is if I rented a car, because its too far from everything.
