Where are the best places to eat at DisneyWorld ?

I know for sure we want to eat at the 50's diner at what used to be the MGM...can't remember what it is called now and also Planet Hollywood. Would like some other great spots, and please say whether they are breakfast lunch or dinner. We have 3 kids (9,7,3) and are open to most anything. Thanks a bunch!Where are the best places to eat at DisneyWorld ?

The best place that I've eaten is at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge called Boma. It has really great food! Basically, it is a buffet with plenty of choices on both the main course and dessert. Of course, there are a few African dishes like gumbo, etc.

Also, if you are the first family of the day to enter the restaurant (most likely around 4:30pm), you get something special to remember the occasion, along with some entertainment ;)

The 50s diner you are talking about is called the 50s Prime Time Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios, but the thing is, you HAVE to eat all of your food--they are pretty strict! (or so I've heard) I've read stories about people throwing food away in the bathroom and the waiter immediately will bring out another plate of food...so I'd be careful on that one! I think what would be more friendly is the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant ;)
I would suggest a character meal, check out allears.net, they give you the menus and tell you what charcters will be where. We went to the princess lunch in Norway at Epcot last year, it was very good but I have 2 girls, it would depend what characters tour kids are into. This year we are going to chef mickeys and 1900 park fayre in the grand floridian hotel (they have cinderella, prince charming, drizella, anastasia and cinderellas step mother).

In the Magic Kingdom we always go for lunch in pinochios village haus, its just a counter service but we love it, its like a tradition of ours, we get a table next to the window and wave at the people on 'its a small world'.

Reservations are a must at busy times of the year for character meals and the sit down restraunts.Where are the best places to eat at DisneyWorld ?
Probably with kids that age character dining (assuming they're cool with the characters) would be a great idea. My personal favorite is the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom. You can go for either lunch or dinner, but the character portion is only at dinner time.

You get a family style meal consisting of a generous serving of roasted turkey breast, carved beef, and smoked pork loin, with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herb bread stuffing, and Stouffer's Macaroni and Cheese. The cherry cobbler dessert is really tasty, too.

My husband and I both love this place, even though we don't have any children.. The food is good, and the atmosphere is really great! It's a must stop every time we visit the world ;o)

It includes all of the eating establishments, including counter service and all resorts, and all of their menus!

Downtown disney: House of Blues (lunch and dinner, rainforest cafe (b,l, d)

EPCOT: Le Cellier Steakhouse canada restaurant (lunch and dinner), Italy restaurant (lunch and dinner)

The Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom is a buffet and the characters come out and pose for pictures. The same with the revolving restaurant on top of the food building in Epcot, but it's not a buffet. There is a restaurant at the 7 seas building in epcot where you are next to a giant aquarium (really the other side of where the ride goes). My kids enjoyed watching the fish while we ate
Instead of Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney try out T-Rex Cafe be much better for the kids
