In Las Vegas should I stay at Planet Hollywood or the MGM Grand?

I am going to Las Vegas for 4 days %26amp; 3 nights over a weekend at the end of September. I have already went previously and stayed at Excalibur but I am now looking to upgraqde for this trip. I am going with 4 buddies and we are all in the age range of 23-25 and we will be looking to gamble, pool, drink, eat, %26amp; go out to bars/clubs. For our price range we have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 options: Planet Hollywood %26amp; MGM Grand. I know MGM Grand is larger, has a better/longer history, and has a larger pool complex. PH however seems newer %26amp; more up to date and has a more central location with their pool smaller overlooking the strip?

Any tips or suggestions one way or the other would be greatly appreciated. For my airfare %26amp; hotel the price difference is minimal so please do not take cost into account.

Thank you!In Las Vegas should I stay at Planet Hollywood or the MGM Grand?
For your age group, I will recommend Planet Hollywood. PH is more taliored to a younger crowd. The rooms at the MGM Grand are nice and also has a nice pool but MGM Grand will cost more considering they charge an extra resort fee that PH does not charge.

My vote goes to Planet Hollywood. Here are discount rates

I would def say PH, I prefer the location and I am around your age and out of the 2, I would prefer Planet Hollywood. The last time I went I stayed at the New York New York hotel and the location (across the road from MGM) annoyed me. The next time I go back, I would stay at PH or at Caesars palace.
I would also recommend MGM if you are planning on spending a lot of time by the pool. Their complex is a LOT bigger, and they have Wet Republic, one of the most popular daytime pool parties right now. http://bit.ly/wetrepublicMGM

I also think since it is so big, there is a lot more to do at MGM. They have a nightclub, an ultralounge, a lot of cool bars, and more casino floor of course. Hope this helps. Have fun!In Las Vegas should I stay at Planet Hollywood or the MGM Grand?
You cannot go wrong with any of these hotels. Planet Hollywood has the better location but MGM the better pool area and often better rooms rates. Before you book check http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com for the latest promo codes for these hotels.
Planet Hollywood! Especially for your age group. In Las Vegas should I stay at Planet Hollywood or the MGM Grand?
i haven't been to ph in years, but i can tell u that my family recently stayed at mgm, and i was shocked at how dumpy the rooms were. ceilings were low (like 7 ft high) and rooms were tiny! anything HAS to be better than mgm! just thought i'd fill u in. :)
MGM Grand is a lot better thank PH. Find great deals here http://travel-to-las-vegas-vacation.blogspot.com
MGM!!!! great crowd and the pool compound is SIIIIICK!!! if you want to meet people GO TO MGM GRAND!!
MGM!!!!! planet hollywood is gay, plain and simple.
I've stayed at both (PH once and MGM several times). I should also point out that I'm 36, married, and my club days are behind me, (although I still gamble plenty, love the pool scenes, and I've been going to Vegas since I turned 21)

I agree with the person who said that you can't really go wrong with either. They are certainly upgrades from the Excalibur. But whatever you choose, definitely stay away from the "West Wing" at the MGM. That poster is absolutely correct. The website makes the rooms look hipper (it's more $$ too), but they are some of the worst rooms I've stayed in. Too far from everything.

So anyway, although MGM has the better pool, incredible food options, and friendly dealers, I would choose PH. It's a younger crowd, but there's another reason which is this: Harrahs brand hotels (PH, Rio, Paris, etc) are much more generous when it comes to comps. Stay at PH, get rated, and your next stay if you go mid-week will likely be comped. You do NOT have to gamble alot to get mid-week comps at PH and Rio. And if you're willing to stay in a dive, then the Imperial Palace will likely be free on a weekend. I like the Mirage Brand hotels better overall for the non-gaming side of things(now my wife and I stay at THEhotel when we go), but I think Harrah's hotels pay you back way more often that Mirage hotels.

Good luck!
I don't think you can really go wrong with either one of them. If you're spending a lot of time by the pool, I would go for MGM Grand, Otherwise PH might be the better choice. PH has a better location (closer to the middle of the strip) and has a bit of a younger vibe.

If you do go to MGM Grand, I would stay away from the west wing rooms, they are smaller than the regular rooms and with two guys in there it would get a little tight.
